BRUSSELS – The European Commissioner for Economic Affairs, Paolo Gentiloni, described it as “good news” for the single European currency area (the euro), as “its growth in the last quarter of last year avoided the negative sign.”
Gentiloni comments on non-detailed estimates for the last quarter of 2022 published by the European Statistics Office (Eurostat) earlier today, Tuesday, which showed the trend of the euro area’s gross domestic product to rise by 0.1 percent on a quarterly basis and by 1.9 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2021. .
And the economic official in the European executive wrote in a tweet on the (Twitter) social networking platform: “We still face many challenges, but the expectations for this year look today a little better than last fall.”
