Government announces “temporary suspension” of flights to and from Panama and the Dominican Republic

The Minister of Transportation, Ramón Celestino Velásquez, announced the temporary suspension of commercial air flights to and from Venezuela with Panama and the Dominican Republic, starting July 31 at 8:00 p.m.

Through his X account, he indicated, “In rejection of the interference of right-wing governments and based on full sovereignty, we announce the temporary suspension of commercial air flights, to and from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela with Panama and the Dominican Republic, starting on #31Jul at 8:00 pm (HLV).”

Ministry of People’s Power for Transport

In response to the recent statement by the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejecting the interventionist actions of right-wing governments openly committed to the ideological postulates of international fascism and based on the principles of full sovereignty, taking into account the presumption of the use of civil aviation for purposes incompatible with the principles of security, as well as the air commercial rights protected by the Chicago Convention, the temporary suspension of commercial air flights to and from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela with Panama and the Dominican Republic is hereby announced, starting on July 31 of this year at 8:00 p.m. (HLV).

The Ministry of People’s Power for Transport of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the governing body of national and international mobility, reserves the right to take legal action, in firm support of the political decisions of the State, in order to respect, preserve and defend the inalienable right of self-determination of the Venezuelan people.
