Breaking News: Andrew Gracis Wins Manager of the Year in Serie A2 Old Wild West

In a groundbreaking announcement, the National Basketball League has named Andrew Gracis as the Manager of the Year for the 2024-2025 Serie A2 Old Wild West season. The prestigious “Gabriele Fioretti” award was bestowed upon Gracis, recognizing his exceptional leadership that led Apu Old Wild West Udine to direct promotion to Serie A.

Gracis’ Impressive Career and Achievements

Gracis, a native of Treviso born in 1960, has had a distinguished career both as a player and a manager. As a playmaker, he played for teams like Basketball Treviso, Reyer Venice, Victoria Libertas Pesaro, and Bears Mestre, winning multiple championships and cups. His managerial prowess has been equally impressive, with this being his second “Gabriele Fioretti” award, following his win in the 2018-2019 season with Treviso Basket.

A Season of Triumph for Apu Old Wild West Udine

Under Gracis’ guidance, Apu Old Wild West Udine dominated the 2024-2025 season, securing first place in the regular season with an impressive record of 30 wins and 8 defeats. The Friulian team’s remarkable performance allowed them to clinch promotion to Serie A with two games to spare, following a decisive victory over Rivierabanca Rimini on April 13th.

The team’s success was not limited to the court. Apu Old Wild West Udine also ranked fourth in A2 for average attendance (3,116 per game) and had a high arena occupancy rate of 92.1%. Additionally, their youth team, Apu Rendimax Under 17, reached the national finals of excellence in Chiusi.

The Gabriele Fioretti Award: Honoring a Legend

The “Gabriele Fioretti” award is presented in memory of Gabriele Fioretti, a respected figure in Italian basketball who passed away in 2014. This award recognizes the outstanding contributions of managers in the A2 league, with Gracis becoming the first to win it twice in the award’s 11-year history.

Looking Ahead

With this latest accolade, Gracis sets his sights on qualifying Apu Old Wild West Udine for the FIBA Basketball Champions League, a feat he accomplished with Treviso Basket in the 2021-2022 season. The upcoming season promises to be a thrilling one, with Gracis and his team aiming to make a significant impact in the top flight.
