Gulf of Mexico – engine failure at sea – plane with Trump on board has to make an emergency landing

A plane carrying former US President Donald Trump on board suffered an engine failure late Saturday night over the Gulf of Mexico, the Washington Post reports. The pilot was therefore forced to make an emergency landing shortly following take-off in New Orleans.

The plane with Trump on board had to return to the airport immediately and make an unscheduled landing in Louisiana shortly before 11 p.m., according to people familiar with the incident. The plane was scheduled to take Trump home to Palm Beach, Fla., from New Orleans, where he spoke with some of the Republican Party’s key donors at a private event at the Four Seasons Hotel.
