Addressing Accessibility Challenges in Disaster Insurance

Gyeonggi-do is introducing the nation’s first ‘subscription by others’ system for Feng Shui and earthquake disaster insurance. This system allows family members or acquaintances to subscribe on behalf of others, particularly those who might struggle with digital access.

Current insurance policies require direct internet-based subscriptions or the intervention of insurance agents. However, many residents, especially the elderly, face difficulties accessing these options. The ‘subscription by others’ system with Meritz Fire Products aims to overcome this barrier by enabling others to subscribe on their behalf, ensuring that even vulnerable groups benefit from insurance.

Campaign for Enhanced Disaster Preparedness

To coincide with the rainy season, Gyeonggi-do will launch a comprehensive ‘insurance gift’ campaign. This campaign taps into the vulnerabilities associated with heavy rains and earthquakes, emphasizing the simplicity and necessity of insurance subscriptions.

The campaign will emphasize messages like “Give Safety for 10,000 won per year” and encourage voluntary subscriptions through both online and offline promotions. Gyeonggi-do aims to inform and educate citizens on the ease of insurance subscriptions to fill the gaps in coverage.

Expanding System Nationwide

Gyeonggi-do intends to expand the ‘subscription by others’ system to all insurers, developing a recommendation to this effect with the Ministry of Public Administration and Security. By broadening the system, Gyeonggi-do seeks to enhance convenience in insurance subscriptions nationwide, ultimately resolving the blind spots in coverage.
