On November 24, Habitat employees demonstrated in Paris once morest the imminent closure of their store, in the middle of the Christmas season, reports The world. The furniture chain, acquired in 2020 by Thierry Le Guénic, is going through a financial crisis, having not paid its suppliers since spring 2021. Eight of the twenty-six French stores will close, affecting 500 employees. Habitat is experiencing a drop in attendance and increased costs due to the energy crisis and the rise in the cost of transport and raw materials.

The Habitat crisis coincides with the difficulties of Burton, also acquired by Le Guénic, which went into receivership in June 2023. Burton closed 26 stores and did not find a buyer.
