A long list of activities related to COVID-19

“The reorganization and offloading of activities are influenced by the following situations: the evolution of the epidemiological situation in Estrie, outbreaks in living environments and clinical activity sectors and care units, the use of our beds hospitalization for users with COVID and the availability of human resources, ”summarizes the spokesperson for the CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS Geneviève Lemay.

“In the last few days, we have been able to notice an improvement in these indicators and we are very happy. The MSSS has also communicated to the establishments to work on reducing the load shedding according to their capacities. Within our establishment, we are currently working to plan the return of certain staff members to their sector of origin. One of the objectives is to gradually increase access to surgery, considering both other services to the population and the ever-present needs related to COVID. It is a continual adjustment between the needs of the population related to COVID and regular needs (such as surgery), ”adds Ms. Lemay.

Indeed, it is not only hospitalized patients to fight COVID who monopolize the employees of the health network. Yet it is only this figure that is advanced daily by the Department of Health and Social Services.

Indeed, there are many other activities related to COVID-19 within health establishments such as the CIUSSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS.

The director of public health in the Eastern Townships, Dr. Alain Poirier, takes his own leadership as an example. “Normally, we have eight employees who work on infectious diseases. Now we are 200 people. And this is just a small-scale example, in a small direction, ”he illustrates.
