The radical Islamic group Hamas today set new conditions for the planned delivery of medicine to the Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip. The prerequisite is that the trucks with the medicines are allowed into the Palestinian territory “without Israeli inspection,” explained Musa Abu Marsuk from the Hamas Politburo on X (Twitter) today. He also demanded that for every box of medicine destined for the hostages, “a thousand boxes be delivered to the residents of the Gaza Strip.” Israel, however, insisted on controlling deliveries.

The delivery of medicines and aid had been negotiated for weeks with the mediation of Qatar and France. An agreement was recently announced, and according to the Qatari government, two planes have now brought 61 tons of medicine and relief supplies to the Gaza Strip. The medication is intended to provide care for 45 sick Hamas hostages as well as the civilian population.
