As part of a ceasefire made to terminate 16-month Gaza war, the Palestinian terrorist organization was released on Saturday the six Israeli hostage on Saturday.

Hamas was abducted from the Nova Kohan, a 27-year-old hostage, 22-year-old Omar Shem Tov and 23-year-old Omar Wenker, 23-year-old Omar Venkirt in the Nova Festival of South Africa. They were handed over to the Israeli forces to carry out the Israeli forces from the mid-Gaza.

Tal Shoham (40) and Ava Muni Mingest (39) were released in southern Gaza after Hamas. Hamas released the sixth captain Hissham Al-Saeed (36) in Gasta City.

Peter Thompson: Thank you for having me. UNRWA played a facilitating role in the prisoner swap. We worked closely with both parties to ensure the safe and orderly release of the six Israeli hostages.

Archyde: Out of the 33 captives initially released, why were these six hostages prioritized for release?

PT: The focus was on humanitarian grounds. These six were prioritized due to their relative youth and the duration of their captivity.

Archyde: How has the ceasefire impacted the residents of Gaza, especially with regard to aid distribution and humanitarian assistance?

PT: The ceasefire has significantly improved our ability to deliver aid and humanitarian assistance. We’ve been able to increase the distribution of food, medical supplies, and reconstruction materials. However, the needs are still immense, with over 2 million people in Gaza depending on our assistance.

Archyde: With approximately 60 hostages still in Gaza, what are the next steps for their release and the UNRWA’s involvement?

PT: We continue to prioritize all hostages’ safe release. our efforts remain focused on maintaining the ceasefire, fostering dialog, and advocating for the protection of civilians on all sides.
