Handball: The DRC will organize, for the first time, the women’s CAN in November (Official)

The Democratic Republic of Congo was authorized to officially organize the African Handball Cup of Nations in the women’s version.

This Tuesday, April 4, 2024, the African Handball Confederation (CAHB) represented by its president, Mansourou Arémou, and the Congo Handball Federation, signed a memorandum of understanding in the presence of the Minister of Sports, François Kabulo.

This signature officially confirms the CAHB’s desire to give the DRC the organization of the 26th edition of the Women’s Handball CAN. This, following the visit to the sports facilities by the inspectors of this African Handball body.

Satisfied with the quality of the infrastructure following a guided tour with Amos Mbayo, president of the Congo Handball Federation, Mansourou Arémou hopes that the DRC will take up the challenge of this competition which brings together 16 nations from across Africa.

From now on, the DRC has only 7 months to refine the details of the organization of this competition, by having quality hotels for the different delegations, villages for athletes, and others.

Furthermore, the DRC women’s national handball team should prepare accordingly to better represent the country, as host of the competition.

Remember that it will be for the first time in its entire history that the DRC will organize a senior African Cup of Nations in a sporting discipline.
