“The energy transition is one of the greatest challenges of our time. In order to successfully master it, we are turning many screws. Vienna has the best conditions for the use of deep geothermal energy: With the Aderklaaer conglomerate, we have a thermal water reserve that is large enough to supply up to 200,000 Viennese households with district heating. The construction of Vienna’s first deep geothermal plant, which is now starting, is another important milestone and at the same time sends a strong signal for climate protection and the independence of our energy supply.”

Peter Hanke, City Councillor for Finance, Economy, Labour and Vienna Public Utilities
