The situation update from Public Health France of June 3 at 2 p.m. reveals that 51 cases of monkeypox have been counted in France, including 4 in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. During the last count, the 1is May, they were only 33, with two cases in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. In the space of two days, cases of monkey pox have therefore almost doubled in France, as in our region. The disease, which is transmitted by direct contact with skin lesions or mucous membranes of a sick person, can also be transmitted by droplets. The first French case was, it should be remembered, detected on May 19. Quickly, in an opinion issued on May 24, the High Authority for Health recommended the vaccination of adults, including health professionals, who had had risky contact with a patient.
