Dr. Hossam Mowafi, Professor of Critical Cases at Kasr Al-Ainy College of Medicine, revealed, during his hosting of the “Bab Al-Khalq” program, broadcast on “Al-Nahar” channel, that “hepatic-renal failure, or what is known as hepatorenal syndrome, is a serious disease that results from a problem in the liver, Noting that it is “the most dangerous disease in the world.”
He continued, “Hepatitis with the BOC virus leads to changes in blood vessels and cells, which leads to cirrhosis of the liver.”
He added, “Liver cirrhosis causes an increase in portal pressure, which is the main cause of esophageal varices.”
He explained: “Liver cirrhosis increases if the cells fail to lead to hepatic coma, so patients should perform an endoscopy for early diagnosis.”
Mowafi said, “There is no treatment for hepatic and renal failure. The patient needs a liver transplant.”
