High-Speed Police Chase in Braine-l’Alleud: Details, Updates, and Arrests

Braine-l’Alleud police patrol officers wanted to check a vehicle traveling in the town of Lillois-Witterzée on Wednesday evening around 9:00 p.m., when the driver fled.

A chase then began, notably mobilizing police officers from several areas and a federal police helicopter.

Arriving in the entity of Nivelles via the village of Baulers, the fleeing car found itself facing a Nivelles police vehicle which was blocking the road in the middle of the road. By forcing it, the fugitive hit the van in which there were two officers and a police dog. No one was injured during the swerve.

The fleeing vehicle finally, a few dozen meters further on, hit a traffic light post on Avenue du Centenaire, to the east of the aclote city.

The driver and his passenger fled on foot. A police officer then used his service weapon to fire three warning shots. The shots were directed towards the ground of a lawn in order to avoid hitting anyone, specify the judicial authorities.

The two suspects continued to flee, but one of them was ultimately apprehended and deprived of his liberty. This concerns the driver of the pursued car, a young Brainois born in 2003, who was subsequently deprived of his liberty.

The young driver was still at the Nivelles police station on Thursday midday, awaiting the completion of various additional investigative duties.
