The meeting of the Jonquière borough council was an opportunity on Tuesday evening to underline the collaboration of the council, with regard to the holding of the 3rd edition of the Festival Western du boisé de Shipshaw. As sector advisor Claude Bouchard explains, the event is going even bigger this year.

In another vein, still during the same meeting, the project to expand the NAPA Auto Parts business, on St-Hubert Street, raised questions from a citizen during the meeting. Pierre Forest came to the microphone, saying he feared the demolition of surrounding houses to allow the business to expand.

Councilor Kevin Armstrong then reassured the citizen, saying that is not the case. Sitting on the Urban Planning Advisory Committee (CCU), Councilor Jimmy Bouchard went further, saying that even if the rear parking lot of the building will disappear with the expansion of the NAPA business, the owner of the building (Les Entreprises Yvon-Marie Bergeron) nevertheless fully respects the municipal by-law with the number of parking spaces available around its buildings.
