Horse racing: Christina Liebherr puts an end to her career

Christina Liebherr (43) has announced the end of her career. The Friborg rider notably won an Olympic team bronze medal in 2008.

She explained her decision in a message to her supporters and loved ones on Sunday, reveals La Liberté. Two factors mainly motivated her decision, namely the cessation of the owner of her horses and the future sale of the equestrian center where she officiates in Riaz, in Gruyère.

Liebherr also won two silver medals at the 2005 European Championships, individual and team. She won her greatest victories with her horse No Mercy, whose career ended with an injury in June 2009 in Aachen.

Even if she will no longer compete, the Fribourgeoise will remain close to the equestrian world, since she will continue to breed.
