House explosion in West Virginia prompts investigation

Firefighters responded to the scene of a house explosion in Charleston, West Virginia early Friday morning.
The alert came just before 5 a.m. in the 800 block of Barton Avenue across the street from Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Charleston fire officials told WCHS that Mountaineer Gas was unaware of a gas line running to the house but the company is investigating.
Washington Street West was temporarily closed while crews worked at the scene.
It remains unclear if anyone was inside the home at the time of the explosion.
