Sanaa: Drone attack by Houthi rebels on oil tanker in Yemen. The incident happened on Monday followingnoon. The attack took place on a ship docked at the Al-Daba oil terminal near the southern city of Mukalla.

The government said in a statement that the drone attack took place while the commercial ship was in Al-Daba port. The attack was carried out with the intention of preventing the government from getting revenue from oil exports. The people of the country are worried that this will disrupt the peaceful atmosphere that has prevailed in the region for a few months. The fierce conflict between the Houthi rebels and the government had been easing for a few days.

Houthi rebels tweeted claiming responsibility for the attack. Rebel spokesman Yahya Zaria said the Houthi armed group had succeeded in chasing an oil tanker that had arrived near the port of al-Daba.

Since 2014, war has started in Yemen between Houthi rebels and pro-government forces. So far more than one and a half lakh people have been killed and 30 lakh people have fled.
