It took a little eternity for Serhij Zhadan to write poetry again. Four months had passed since Vladimir Putin’s uniformed henchmen began terrorizing Ukraine from all sides. The defenders didn’t back down. In May 2022, Volodymyr Zelensky’s troops had just broken the siege ring around Kharkiv. Zhadan, himself a Kharkiv resident, felt the timing was right for reconnection.
