However, instead of talking regarding the history and construction of Vienna’s landmark, city guide Cristina-Estera Klein shows a black and white photo from the 1960s: countless VW Beetles crowded directly in front of the cathedral. “Cities appear static,” she says, “but they are constantly changing.” What is also urgently needed in view of the increasing population figures and temperatures: by 2050, according to the forecast, it will be seven degrees warmer in the city on average.
