Entering the final month of election season, registered Republicans lead Democrats by just over a percentage point, according to state voter data. The three most affected counties, Lee, Charlotte and Collier, have a total of 923,000 registered voters, which is 6.4% of the 14.4 million people in the state who have registered to vote in November. Of those registered, almost half are Republicans (429,000) and only 24% (220,000) are Democrats. The remaining 28% (260,000) are not affiliated with any party.
