Hyacinths as far as the eye can see: this is the spectacle that Halle Woods offers and which is home to the largest bed of wild hyacinths in Europe: it extends over 200 hectares. A family drove 45 minutes to observe this unique landscape. “It’s very pleasant, it’s a change from our computers and our city life”, explains the father. “Especially with this beautiful sun, it feels really good, we really needed it“, adds the mother.

Catherine wouldn’t miss this show for anything, because every time, the magic happens.” I find it a magical place and so I like coming every year, it’s refreshing“, she says.

Its scent captivates, its color seduces, the return of the hyacinth delights photographers. “First of all, the weather is very nice, which is already a lot because that is not always the case. It’s the start of the season so there aren’t too many people yet, but it’s already very blue“, explains an amateur photographer.

From the beginning of April to the beginning of May, the Bois de la Hal takes on the appearance of an enchanted forest. The place has become an Instagrammable spot: this fascinating purple carpet has been flooding social networks for several seasons, but there are rules to respect, ropes are installed to prevent visitors from leaving the paths.

This causes places where there are no flowers for years. And secondly, picking the hyacinths and taking them away is not smart, because by the time you get to the car, the hyacinths are already dead“, explains Patrick Huvenne, regional manager of the Nature and Forest agency.

Each year during this period, the site attracts nearly 80,000 enthusiasts.
