Malappuram: The late Muslim League president Hyder Ali Shihab of Panakkad will be buried soon. The relatives and the party leadership decided to bury him early in the morning due to special circumstances including the crowd. Burial will be in the graveyard following the funeral prayers at Panakkad Juma Masjid.
Earlier, the funeral was scheduled for 9 am on Monday, but it was decided to make it earlier due to special circumstances.
The public viewing area was unusually crowded following 11 p.m. Volunteers and police worked hard to control the crowds. Many were injured in the stampede. Thousands of people, who had been waiting for hours for the burial to be completed, were forced to return.
