The artist, Mohamed Sobhi, expressed his deep sorrow at the change in the art scene in recent years, criticizing some artworks that are considered “unfortunate.” Sobhi said: “I am sad and I do not beg.. I work, earn, and work on my own, and I feel that I am in a large prison. Unfortunately, I am wronged because I am imprisoned in a solitary cell.”
And he continued: “If you ask a specific limit from the public or the state, he will put a list of all the geniuses of Egypt from the beginning of the last century until today, and God Almighty will be sad.”
He demanded the necessity of having a minister of information with a media policy and not bodies, explaining: “It is not necessary for channels to run on trends and trivialities. I am concerned with culture and art as a shovel that can build or destroy.”
It is noteworthy that the last work of the artist, Mohamed Sobhi, is the play “A Family Makes It Block”, which is shown at the “Sunbul” city theater.
