“I fear for my life and freedom”: María Corina Machado

Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has published a letter in which she says she is under protection because she feels threatened. This comes after an OAS resolution was failed, which demanded that Venezuelan authorities immediately publish the minutes of the presidential elections.

This is the resolution that required Venezuelan authorities to immediately publish the minutes of Sunday’s elections, which did not obtain the necessary support to be approved by the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS), after nations such as Brazil and Colombia abstained from voting, and others were absent, such as Mexico.

Through his X account, President Gustavo Petro wanted to explain the reason for Colombia’s abstention in this vote.

In the same style as Petro, María Corina Machado responded to the president’s publication.

In recent hours, the opposition leader warned that she feels threatened by the Nicolás Maduro regime and that she fears for her life, a situation that forced her to limit her public appearances.
