IKEA Japan, a Japanese subsidiary of IKEA, a furniture specialty store from Sweden, announced on June 24 that it will open “IKEA Maebashi (tentative name)” in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture in 2024. This is the first time that the company has opened a store in Kita-Kantou.
A store with a store area of approximately 10,000 m2 will be opened in a location approximately 5 minutes by car from the Maebashi South Interchange on the Kita Kanto Expressway. As with existing stores, we have a wide range of furniture, upholstery, tableware, and Swedish food.
The UNIQLO Maebashi Minami Inter Store (tentative name) will also open on the site of approximately 58,000 m2. It is scheduled to open in the spring of 2011 prior to the opening of IKEA stores. With a sales floor area of regarding 750 tsubo (regarding 2475 m2), this is a large store for UNIQLO and sells casual clothing for men, women, children and babies.
