Doha: Three Asians have been arrested in connection with the smuggling, deportation and illegal employment of domestic workers. The three men were arrested by the Search and Follow-up Unit (SFD) of the Directorate General of Passports. Along with them, 11 women domestic workers were also arrested. An investigation by the concerned security departments into the suspicious advertisement on social media in connection with the domestic workers revealed that several people were staying illegally. The aim was to give them jobs in various places illegally. All three arrested are from the same country.
During interrogation, the accused pleaded guilty. Defendants explained to investigators how domestic workers were housed and how they were employed through advertisements on social media. The accused have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action.
