Russian ballerina and actress Ilze Liepa will lose her Lithuanian citizenship due to her support for the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the special operation. The country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs ordered the Lithuanian Migration Department to begin the corresponding procedure.
“Ilze Liepa’s public statements are considered as discrediting the state,” writes Baltic News Service with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It is noted that this is due to the ballerina’s statements in which she supported Putin and the North Military District. She will lose her citizenship once the review is completed.
In November 2022, Liepa expressed gratitude to the Russian army in an interview. When asked “why?”, she stated that she trusts Putin. The ballerina received Lithuanian citizenship back in 2000.
