Ravi Rampaul (RR): Thanks! It felt astonishing.The atmosphere was electric, and knowing what was at stake definitely added to the pressure. But I’ve always thrived under pressure, and I just focused on executing my plans. I knew if I stuck to my strengths and bowled with aggression, I could make a difference. The team’s belief in each other really makes a difference to.

Strategic Bowling and Key Wickets

AN: You took some crucial wickets, including Kallis, Behardien, and Vilas in quick succession.Can you walk us through your strategy during that pivotal spell?

RR: The plan was simple: bowl aggressively and target the stumps.I noticed the batsmen were trying to be a bit too cute,looking for boundaries. So I focused on bowling straight, mixing up my pace, and making them play. Getting Kallis was huge; he’s such a risky player. After that, it was about keeping the momentum going and piling on the pressure.

AN: Lendl Simmons played an amazing inning, scoring a century. How crucial was his batting performance to setting up the victory?

RR: Lendl was phenomenal! His century set the platform beautifully. to score a hundred in 54 balls in a crucial match like that is just incredible. It allowed us to put South Africa under pressure from the get-go. Brian Lara also played a fantastic supporting role in that big partnership. And let’s not forget Chadwick Walton at the end. Those late sixes were invaluable.
