The Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (Afsca) is withdrawing Chabrior brand brioches and sandwich loaves from sale, it announced on Tuesday. The sulphites allergen is not mentioned despite its presence in these products.

The products concerned are plain extra soft sandwich bread (with an expiry date between June 21 and July 14), wholegrain extra soft sandwich bread (with an expiry date between June 21 and July 13) and the sliced brioche (with an expiry date between June 24 and July 16) from the Chabrior brand. These products were sold in the Intermarché and Intermarché by Mestdagh stores between June 13 and 29, 2023.

The Afsca and the company Fournil du Val de Loire ask people who have an intolerance or an allergy to sulphites not to consume these products and to bring them back to the point of sale where they bought them. People who do not suffer from intolerance or allergy can eat these sandwich loaves and brioches without risk.
