During the closing of the Academic Cycle 2020-2021 of the Medical Specialization Courses, the general director of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), Zoe Robledo, assured that during the pandemic by Covid-19 his dependence became “the best medical school“For having formed al 60 percent of specialists in Mexico.
The official congratulated 4,158 doctors who completed their residency at the IMSS and, in the event that lasted about an hour and a half, he highlighted that the apprentices carried out their activities “on dirt and never on the comfort of the pavement.”
In recognition of the graduated medical personnel, eight doctors received a diploma and there was even a call for them to remain at the IMSS to continue their training and to begin their formal working life.
“To be able to say that we are a great school can only be confirmed with two elements: having the best teachers, the best female teachers and, above all, having the best students, the best female students, and I think this year during the This pandemic has been confirmed, ”said Zoé Robledo.
He added that to strengthen the training of resident doctors and give them opportunities to access the IMSS, they worked with the National Union of Social Security Workers (SNTSS) for new hires and cover the deficit of specialists in 2020.
The director of the health institute indicated that last year, prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, 5,229 doctors and 16,470 nurses were hired, which represented the highest amount of admissions to the IMSS in the last six years.
During the closing event of the Medical Specialization Courses, the general director of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), Arturo Reyes Sandoval, and the virtual rector of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Enrique Graue Wiechers, also participated.

Meanwhile, Arturo Reyes, general director of the IPN, stressed that the medical profession needs to be constantly updated and an example of this is the emergence of Covid-19.
“Higher-level educational institutions are called to work in a coordinated manner with health sector organizations such as the IMSS,” concluded the director of the Polytechnic.
