In America, a company recalls about 50 products because they may contain Chronobacter

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN)– Food service company Lyons Magnus has voluntarily recalled 53 beverage products for possible contamination with the bacterium called “Chronobacter sakazaki”, according to a statement published by the company, Friday.

The recall includes many types of drinks, liquid coffee, to baby food supplements, protein shakes, and other nutritional shakes.

Recalls include brands such as Oatly, Stumptown, Glucerna, Intelligentsia, Aloha, Kate Farms and Premier Protein.

“Analysis of the first root causes shows that the products do not meet commercial sterilization specifications,” the statement said.

The company said that no illnesses or complaints have been reported regarding these products.

People are asked to either throw out the returned products if purchased, or return them for a refund.

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Control (CDC), “Chronobacter” is a bacterium that can be found in dry products and wastewater.

It can be especially dangerous for infants, people over the age of 65, and people with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms of bacterial infection are fever, meningitis, and seizures in infants.

Products made for children under one year of age are not included in the recall process.

This bacteria has previously caused a separate recall of powdered infant formula products, which is still ongoing.
