In case there is a shortage of gas, the government has prepared the emergency plan

The FPS Economy document which presents the entire “gas” emergency plan first draws up a picture of the current situation. So far, it says, gas deliveries from Russia have been stable. Contracts are respected. In 2022, we even imported more gas than in 2021 at the same time.

The document also recalls that Belgium has several entry points for natural gas. There are connections via Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, but also France and Great Britain. In addition, storage capacities for LNG, liquefied gas, are available in Zeebrugge.

In this context, there are no indications of a risk to the security of gas supply.

The situation is currently being monitored, in particular via Fluxys, the network operator. Reports should be made regularly, several times a week.

Despite everything, the current situation does not prevent us from preparing for more delicate scenarios.
