In Diourbel, nine Pastef activists sentenced to six months suspended prison sentence

Diourbel, Feb 8 (APS) – The tribunal de grande instance of Diourbel (center) sentenced nine activists from Pastef (opposition) to six months in prison, suspended, accusing them of having taken part in an unauthorized demonstration.

Each of the defendants must pay a fine of 100,000 CFA francs, according to the verdict.

Found in flagrante delicto, the nine Pastef activists were arrested by the local police during a rally last Saturday in front of the general education high school in Diourbel.

They were distributing leaflets to students and passers-by as a prelude to their party’s awareness campaign on voter registration for the 2024 presidential election.
