Srinagar: A tunnel under construction on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway collapsed and a nearby hill collapsed during rescue operations. Video of the landslide released.

The part of the hill collapsed in the Magarkot area while the rescue operation was in full swing for the workers trapped inside the tunnel. Rescue operations were hampered when two rescue machines collided. Deputy Commissioner Massaratul Islam said a new approach would have to be found if the rescue operation was to continue.

The tunnel collapsed on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at 10.15 pm on Thursday. The accident took place 30-40 meters inside the tunnel. One worker was killed in the accident. Nine workers were trapped at the scene. Three people were rescued.
