In Memory of Tomonobu Yokoyama: A Tribute to His Legacy at Kawasaki Frontale

2024-01-11 11:46:18

Tomonobu Yokoyama (currently Omiya Ardija U18 physical coach and U18 coach), who was a player for Kawasaki Frontale from the 2008 to 2011 seasons, passed away on January 4th. All of us at the club would like to express our heartfelt condolences on the news of his death.

Mr. Tomonobu Yokoyama received an offer from Kawasaki Frontale in his fourth year of university, turned down a job at a major company he had already been offered, and chose to become a professional soccer player, and became a member of our team. Since then, he has been active as a center back and midfielder for four seasons, and left a record of two goals in a total of 104 official matches as a player for Kawasaki Frontale.

At the end of 2018, it was announced that he had undergone surgery to remove a brain tumor, and at the FUJI Banners of encouragement were put up. After that, he returned as a J-League player, and even following his retirement he continued his career as a physical coach, so it was a shame to say goodbye to him so soon.

We would like to hereby remember the achievements of the deceased and pray for his repose from the bottom of our hearts.
