In Santa Bárbara, an older adult died when an avalanche fell and he was imprisoned by a tree

In the municipality of Santa Bárbara (Southwest Antioquia) an adult over 67 years old lost his life, following an avalanche fell on a house and he was imprisoned by a tree that collapsed from its roots.

According to the report of the local Risk Management Committee, the incident occurred at the Loma de Dos Santos site, a rural area, and the victim died at the scene.

After the removal of the body by the CTI of the Prosecutor’s Office, the older adult was taken to the municipal morgue where he was identified as Mario Escobar, a man of great recognition in his community and whose death was mourned by many people in the municipality.

The house that collapsed is owned by a woman identified as Yaneth Grajales Patiño, whose family was affected and had to evacuate pending humanitarian aid from the mayor’s office.
