“In several private medical schools they “sell” places for specialization”: Roy Barreras

At the end of the first day of August, the president of the Senate of the Republic, Roy Barreras, attacked private universities in the national territory that apparently would be selling quotas for specializations in different branches of medicine.

According to the politician and medical surgeon, on his official Twitter account, he said the following: “They tell me that in several private Faculties of Medicine they “sell” the quotas for specialization, disguising the charge as “donations” for up to 300 million pesos. Barreras mentioned.

It should be noted that, in Colombia, many young people have the purpose and objective of studying medicine, a situation that becomes complex due to the economic factor.

Thus, the president of the Senate requested Carolina Corcho, Minister of Health appointed by the cabinet of the elected president, Gustavo Petro. “The best students, if they are humble, cannot specialize! We will investigate!” Roy pointed out.

It should be noted that, next Sunday, August 7, Gustavo Petro will take office before the Colombians in Plaza Bolívar in the capital of the Republic.
