Many poignant and tragic scenes are still emerging to the world, following the devastating earthquake in Syria and Turkey.

In a new moving scene, a camera captured a Syrian child sitting on the rubble holding a doll in one hand and a bag of “chips” in the other, following the earthquake that hit the Syrian town of Suran near the border with Turkey.

A 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and Syria at dawn on Monday, killing thousands and thousands of injured, and destroying many buildings, while residents of Egypt, Lebanon and Cyprus felt it.

It is noteworthy that the total number of confirmed deaths in southeastern Turkey and Syria has risen to more than 5,000 as a result of the earthquake, which is the strongest in the region in nearly a century.

Meanwhile, Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath correspondent reported that the death toll had risen to 1,712 in Syria as a result of the earthquake.

The toll continues to rise, as a very large number of people are still under the rubble of the collapsed buildings.

While the World Health Organization expected the final outcome to be much greater than the announced non-final numbers.
