For young people it is no longer a revelation.

Perestroika cinema became a revelation for Soviet viewers. The films of the late 80s raised taboo topics: intimate relationships, juvenile delinquency, domestic violence, corrupt love.

It is believed that “Little Vera” became a pioneer in the world of highly social films. The story, filmed by Vasily Pichul, shocked the entire Union.

People stood for hours to get tickets for the show. Eyewitnesses say that fights often broke out in the queues at the box office: everyone wanted to see the most talked regarding film of the late 80s.

The film has been lauded in the past. But modern audiences are not so kindly disposed. “Chernukha” regarding the surrounding reality is shown on the screens for a long time and in every detail, so the plot regarding a girl who is suffocating from the dullness of life in a small town has lost its novelty. The story began to seem banal, and the director’s techniques – boring.

“Cheap immediate effect. Culture shock – nothing more. Primitive. Artistic value – zero point zero.”

“The movie is regarding nothing: boring, gray, stupid, terribly drawn out.”

“Nowadays this film is no longer watchable”,” viewers write in reviews on the Internet.
