The Planning Bureau expects the pivotal index to be exceeded in October, it said on Tuesday. It estimates the annual inflation rate at 4.1% in 2023 and 3.9% in 2024.

The Planning Bureau forecasts this Tuesday that the pivotal index would be reached by the smoothed health index during the month of October. Social benefits and salaries in the public sector would then be adapted to the cost of living, by 2%, respectively next November and December.

In its monthly forecasts, the Planning Bureau indicates that the annual inflation rate is expected to rise to 4.1% in 2023 and 3.9% in 2024, compared to 9.59% in 2022 and 2.44% in 2021.
