Indian Wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat Head Abroad for Training: Sports Ministry Approval and Central Government Funding

New Delhi: Union sports ministry has given permission to wrestlers to train abroad. Wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat go abroad for training. The players are training in Kyrgyzstan and Hungary. Both will leave in the first week of July. Bajrang Punia will have a 36-day training camp in Kyrgyzstan. Vinesh will start training first in Kyrgyzstan and then in Budapest, Hungary. The entire cost for this will be borne by the central government.

Vinesh Phogat will be accompanied by physiotherapist Ashwini Jeevan Patel, sparring partner Sangeeta Phogat and trainer Sudesh, while Bajrang Punia will be accompanied by trainer Sujeet Mann, physiotherapist Anuj Gupta, sparring partner Jitender and strength and conditioning expert Kasi Hasan.

Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur stated that an immediate decision was taken on the application submitted by both of them. It is indicated that the players are going abroad for training aiming at the Asian Games and the World Championship. The stars were active in the Jantar Mantar protest demanding action on the sexual assault complaint once morest BJP MP and former president of the wrestling federation, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
