Data issued by the Ministry of Health in Mexico showed that the country recorded 16,133 new cases of corona, Thursday, the highest daily number of infections since late February.
Experts say that the increase indicates that a new wave of the spread of the Corona virus is sweeping the country.
But Deputy Health Minister Hugo Lopez Gatell said at a press conference on Tuesday: “What we have observed over the past nine weeks is a gradual increase in the frequency of cases.”
He added at that conference, that most of the cases are infected with Omicron PA4 and PA5 strains, which cause cold-like symptoms.
He continued, “What is more encouraging than that is that deaths are also under control.”
Mexico recorded an average of 24 deaths per day during the past seven days, according to data from the Ministry of Health.
