Diagnosis and Initial Treatment

In December 2021, a patient detected blood in their urine, leading to the discovery of a 25mm polyp in the bladder. Following surgery to remove the polyp, the diagnosis was confirmed as stage 2 bladder cancer, with the tumor infiltrating the muscle and classified as grade 3. This necessitated intensive treatment, including neo-adjuvant chemotherapy in February and March 2022.

Radical Surgery and Recovery

In early June 2022, the patient underwent a major operation to remove the bladder and reconstruct a neo-bladder, a procedure that lasted 8 hours. After a 15-day hospital stay, the patient returned home and continued with regular scans every 4 months, showing no signs of recurrence until March 2023.

Recurrence and Advanced Treatment

In March 2023, the cancer recurred with metastases found in the vertebra, liver, and along the aorta. The patient then underwent further chemotherapy with Cisplatin and Gemzar until November 2023. Despite no improvement, the oncologist recommended a shift to immunotherapy using Keytruda.

Immunotherapy Success

A PET scan in February 2024 revealed the extinction of metastases, placing the patient in remission. As of July 2025, regular scans continue every 4 months, with visible metastases reappearing. This journey underscores the importance of staying informed and hopeful in the face of cancer.
