Instagram takes the ‘Like’ to the stories so as not to saturate direct messages

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

Instagram introduced a change in the stories by which users they can indicate that they have liked the content without a private message being sentthus avoiding cluttering the inbox.

The technology company placed in the stories the heart shaped button, which appears between the bar for writing a message and the button that looks like a paper plane. With this addition, users can indicate that they liked the content.

The peculiarity of this novelty is that this is an indication that you no longer send a direct message to the creatorinstead it is displayed in the story view, next to the image of the person who has flagged it, visible only to the person who posted the story.

This is a change aimed at “people can express more supportbut also to clean up the direct messages a bit”, as explained by the person in charge of Instagram, Adam Mosseriin a video shared on the social network Twitter.
