The season came to an early end for the next Vorarlberg skier: Lukas Feurstein suffered a torn medial ligament and a bruised bone in his right knee on Sunday when he fell in the Super-G in Cortina.

The 21-year-old, who had achieved his best World Cup result the day before with sixth place in the first Super-G in Cortina, is now waiting for an operation in the coming days.

“One can speak of luck in disguise and I’m glad that nothing more happened. Of course it’s extremely sad that the season is coming to an end like this. Now it’s time to get fit once more quickly and then attack once more next winter, ”said Feurstein in an ÖSV broadcast. The 21-year-old will also miss the World Cup in France in February.

Prominent failures

Previously, Christian Hirschbühl and Christine Scheyer had to announce their early end of the season, and Ariane Rädler also had to take a break of several weeks due to injury.
