France denounced today, Tuesday, the “irresponsible” statements of the Israeli Minister of Finance, Bezalel Smotrich, in which he denied the historical existence of the Palestinians during an evening organized last Sunday in Paris.

And the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented, in a statement, by saying: “We call on those who have been summoned to high positions” in the occupation government “to show the required dignity and respect for the dignity of others, and to refrain from any actions or statements that contribute to the escalation of tensions.”

In turn, the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the minister’s racist statements and his denial of the existence of the Palestinian people and the sovereignty of Jordan.

Likewise, the UAE, Jordan and Saudi Arabia condemned Smotrich’s statements. Egypt and the Palestinian Authority have also taken the same action.

Smotrich had said, last Sunday evening, according to a video clip that was widely circulated on social media, that “there are no Palestinians, the Palestinian people is an invention that is less than 100 years old.”

Earlier today, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said that the racist and provocative statements made by the Minister of Finance in the occupation government reflect an extremist, exclusionary ideology.

He added during a press conference that the Israeli Minister of Finance’s racist statements “will not affect the rights of the Palestinian people,” calling on the occupation government to clearly declare that the Minister of Finance’s speech does not represent it.

Prior to Safadi’s statements, a source in the Jordanian Foreign Ministry stated that the ministry had summoned the Israeli ambassador in Amman.
