Introducing solid foods to your baby is one of the basic stages of your baby’s growth and nutrition, and from the age of 4 to 6 months, when the baby becomes ready to eat solid food, in this report we learn regarding a list of foods that you can offer to your baby following completing 4 months.

Dr. Alaa Abdel Aziz, a specialist in pediatrics and neonatology at Zagazig General Hospital, said that there are various foods that we can provide to a child from the age of 4 months, in addition to breastfeeding or artificial feeding.

He explained that among these foods are:

– Rice water or rice mash
– Mashed peas, mashed carrots, mashed potatoes.
– Mashed apple, banana, pear, avocado.

He explained that eating proteins is completely prohibited before completing 6 months, meaning that chicken, meat, eggs, liver, or chicken and meat soup should not be served to the infant before 6 months, noting that only vegetable soup is allowed from the age of 4 months.

He stressed that each type of food must be tried separately at first for the child, so that we can easily discover the child’s allergy to a particular type of food, adding that we can change between each type and type of food for 3-5 days.

He explained that the amount of these foods that the infant eats is one or two tablespoons, and a little olive oil can be added and thus the infant’s weight increases.
