Iran announces the sinking of an Emirati ship 48 km off the port of Asalouyeh

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Iranian authorities announced, on Thursday, that an Emirati ship sank 30 miles (regarding 48 kilometers) off the port of Asalouyeh.

This came according to what was reported by the official Iranian news agency, according to the head of the Marine Safety and Environmental Protection Department at the Ports and Maritime Navigation Department of Bushehr Province, southern Iran, where he explained that the ship was “moving vehicles.”

He added: “As soon as the marine authorities in Bushehr province reported the news that the Emirati ship was in danger of sinking, they sent two tugboats and a marine ‘Naji’ to save it, but bad weather prevented it, which led to the ship’s sinking.”

And he added, “The naval piece, ‘Naji 18’, is at the scene of the accident to rescue 30 people who were on board the stricken Emirati ship.”

CNN has contacted the UAE authorities for comment without a response at the time of writing.
