Israel has claimed responsibility for a dawn air strike that killed General Majid Khademi, the intelligence chief of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps. An official Iranian statement confirmed the death, describing the general as having been “martyred” during the attack.
Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, identified Khademi as a primary target of the operation. The strike follows allegations from the United States that Khademi’s unit was responsible for the violent suppression of anti-government protests within Iran during January.
